Looking for the Helpers

One Sunday morning at a small southern church, the new pastor called on one of his older deacons to lead in the opening prayer. The deacon stood up, bowed his head and said,"Lord, I hate buttermilk."
The pastor opened one eye and wondered where this was going. The deacon continued, "Lord, I hate lard." Now the pastor was totally perplexed. The deacon continued, "Lord, I ain't too crazy about plain flour. But after you mix 'em all together and bake 'em in a hot oven, I just love biscuits."

"Lord help us to realize when life gets hard, when things come up that we don't like, whenever we don't understand what You are doing, that we need to wait and see what You are making. After you get through mixing and baking, it'll probably be something even better than biscuits. Amen.
Romans 8:28

Following the bombing in Paris, Natasha was very upset. She  tearfully asked me why people were so cruel to each  other. She was never going to Paris because of the bombing. All the hurt people." It's terrible"she sobbed.
"Natasha", I said. Look for the helpers. There are always helpers. That is how we survive.

Heroes

At the Bataclan concert hall, a police captain and his driver were the first emergency responders to enter the chaotic scene, reportedly charging inside the building as panicked concertgoers fled. They ran into the line of fire.
Outgunned and outnumbered, the men soon came under fire from one of the
attackers. Le Parisien reports that the two returned fire, striking one of the assailants, before being forced to flee and await reinforcements.
A man saved my wife’s life last night at the Bataclan by hiding her under chairs and shielding her with his body,” ClĂ©ment posted on Facebook. “His name is Bruno and we would like to thank him.”
Others welcomed injured and traumatized Parisians into their homes. Muriel Gaudry sheltered nearly 30 people at her apartment near the Bataclan, where dark bloodstains linger on her living room sofa.
At a restaurant across the street from Le Petit Cambodge, Samir, who works as a server, saw injured and terrified victims in the road. As gunshots continued to ring out, he ushered two survivors downstairs, where he pressed fabric to the arm of a young woman who had been shot.

Heaven's streets are crowded with the souls of angels tonight.. They are way to crowded with angels that are  brothers, sisters, mothers children, teachers, students, friends.  They did not expect, nor did they invite the conformation of evil, yet it found them. Rumor has it, the streets of heaven are guarded by the US Marines. I believe this, Helpers.
just when we feel we have reached the capacity of our compassion, we find that capacity may be limitless. For we rise the occasion we are called upon.

When we put the lard, and flour together we are indeed a wonderful people.
black, white red, green yellow Thank you Lord for putting it all together and making the human race.

In the depths of any tragedy there is always hope, God in His wisdom put the ingredient of compassion in all of us.
I always have prayed to be one of the helpers. I want to run into the fire and help the injured. i want ot stand up to the man abusing his wife or girlfriend, I want to pull the child to safety.
I want to be a helper. Not a Hero, But one of Gods helper placed here to serve Him.
Feeling discouraged? How can you help someone today?
You do not have to wait for a castrophe, your neighbor is hurt. Your neighbor is hungry. A child is hurt. the lady across the street needs a friend and a ear.
If not for Samir, Bruno, and others like them, the City of Light may have experienced an even more horrific nightmare.
Look for the helpers.

A shout out to Nobodies

A midst the uncertainties of war
Every soldier is entitled to one
Certainly that he will not be…forgotten
Or abandoned,

Poor is the nation that has no heroes
Shameful is the one that having them…
Forgets,

Everyone should have heroes. But how do we choose them? Is it a rock star, or a politician? Perhaps a ball player or Nascar driver?
Everyone has someone or should. Heroes keep us motivated to be what they are.
encouragement in times of darkness
They are rich, famous, admired liked most of us are drawn to people like this because it is what we want in life.
I was thinking today about the nobodies in life, those who should be our hero, but we take for granted, You know the ones.
After a storm, you flip a switch an the lights come on-because someone from the power company has been working on the wires during the storm.

And:
The owner of the stall at the farmer’s market downtown. When the day is over he takes all of his leftover produce and bread to the homeless shelter and donates it so they have fresh food once a week.

The soldier, that was never deployed but stayed stateside and works to make sure the deployed soldiers have supplies they need.
he single mom raising her children alone; working two jobs and volunteering at the church to feed the needy.

The retired couple who give up two hours every weekday to deliver meals on wheels for shut ins.

The truth is there are nobodies everywhere. Your next door neighbor may quietly rescue animals and find homes for them.
You, yourself may be a nobody.
The fact is, nobodies are somebodies. They are behind the scene quietly making the world spin.

Next time you are thinking about heroes, think about the ones you have never thought about.
The lady who drives a bookmobile.
The man who runs a homeless shelter.
The person who notices how sad you are and ask if they could help.
The Prayer Warriors on their knees for you or
the lady from church, whom you have never spoken to: that has you on her prayer list.
Nobodies all
