Dear Someone thursday

Dear Someone Thursday, brought to you by the wonderful family of shorts, make sure you hop over there and read more letters

Dear Nanowrimo (National November Writing Month)

I finished my 50,000 words two days early and so felt completed to write 3000 more. I don't know why you never explained to me that even though I wrote 50,000words I still would not  have a book. It was depressing for me to find out, I still have left my characters in limbo. I left one in the middle of an airplane crash, and other one being proposed to. I am sure she would like me to come back and tell her what her answer is.  Sorry, Teri, to leave you in Limbo. But worse then that, I am sure Jeremiah is hanging on waiting breathlessly to see if he survives the crash. hmmm, haven't decided yet.

the point of this letter, that now you have me all hyped up on finishing the novel, and worse then that because people keep telling me it's good maybe  trying to get it published.

I want you to know, I never thought I'd be an author, and this just goes to show how when you are going along perfectly happy  with your life and ittakes a sharp left turn and suddenly you are thinking about becoming an author.
So back I go to the book, to tell you the truth Ia m a little excited, because I really want to know what happens to everyone and have grown fond of all of them..

thanks for giving me the chance to find out I can do it, and be willing to find out if anyone else thinks so..

Dear Santa

You already have my list from Saturday's blog. Ditto.

Dear Romana
gushing,,I am still soooo excited about the Bst Blog award..Thanks

Starting Over - Christmas

Starting over for the Christmas season has proven to be interesting.  A few years back I had boxes and boxes of Christmas ornaments, villages, lights and all kinds of assorted items designed to bring Christmas cheer.
This year,  Denise and I found ourselves looking at each other with nothing. Nada, not a thing to decorate for Christmas and a active 2.9 year whose first real Christmas this will be.  I mean as far as noticing her surroundings.
So we went out, first and foremost we needed the most important of all decorations, the tree.
How expensive can this be?
Now two years ago, Denise has purchased a tree after the holidays for 10 dollars, the tree was sitting unfortunately in a storehouse in Florida along with most of our earthly possessions, that we have yet to go down and pick up.
So we thought, we'll just buy a real one this year. By next year, surely we'll have the real tree. So off we went, thinking a 20 dollar tree was in the works.
We were firmly stopped in our tracks, when the first few lots we went to 50.00 dollars was the least expensive tree.
50 dollars and still ornaments? This is indeed going to be a long holiday season.
We continued to search for an affordable tree,it seemed a shame to pay 50 dollars for a tree we will just toss away in a few weeks.
In the meantime we brought dollar tree ornaments and I snapped up lights as soon as they went  clearance at work.  We were about to give up, when one day we were driving down the road and saw a sigh proclaiming TREES: $20.00 today only!
Thinking of course this was to good to be true, we did a quick u turn and drove into the lot.
Sure enough, all trees on the lot were 20 dollars. The owner was from Connecut, His wife went into early labor and he had brand new twins waiting for him at home.
Needless to say he wanted to leave now.
So thanks to driving down the right road at the right time, and God's hand guiding us, we have a tree. With a few ornaments on it.
and lights.
Charley Brown would be So proud. His tree looks infinitely better.
This year, we are going to learn the meaning of Christmas. We won't have much, because we are starting with nothing. We will pass again, another hurdle.
But it is a good thing to forget about the commercialism of the holiday. This year we will really have to concentrate on the Birth of the Child, Jesus.
Our focus is on another child. One whose life has been anything but calm the last year. Her Christmas will be Merry, and because of that so will ours.
So as I go out to the living room to light the tree for Santa and the candle for Jesus and  as Tiny Tim observed..God Bless us everyone......
Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night...

It's begining to look a lot like Christmas

I took my daughter to the mall today to do some shopping for a special date she has tonight. The mall on any Saturday is crowded, but today it was packed. Christmas is on it ways.
Santa was in his chair, handing out candy canes to already hyper children, elves were busily taking pictures for parents. Kids fervently whispered their lists to Santa.
Christmas is Coming.
Tasha was cranky, so I put a $1.50 in a train and let her ride for 1 minute around in a circle. She thought it was great, I got dizzy.
Denise found a pair of boots for $30.00 at, and was very excited.
And me, well I finally got the Christmas spirit for a minute.
When you work in retail, it is hard to maintain the spirit because you are inundated so early with Christmas decorations, and setting up for the holiday it gets old fast.
But, it is a different thing when you are on the other side. I enjoy the decorations, the children's excitement shopping for my friends and family.
I started fairly early with my shopping, putting a little away during the sales in January. I petered out by January 15, and am sitting here the first of December with two people on my list taken care of. Oh well, the best intentions of mice and men. And actually that may be a good thing,
I have found in the past when I start early, some peoples likes and dislikes change, so I end up with a gift that I inherited that I don't really care for.
For instance, one year my sister was big into collecting vases. In January I brought her a vase on sale, from Pier One that was unique enough I was sure she wouldn't have another like it by next year. As a matter of fact, for good measure I brought her a different one at the same time for her birthday.
On her birthday, I proudly handed her the first vase, wrapped nicely and just brought in January and was told, she had run out of steam on vases. She was now collecting elephants. Her Birthday, by the way, is in February. Deflated, I brought out the other vase. It looked nice on my mantle until I sold it at a yard sale before moving to Florida.
Did I buy her an elephant? no, and good thing to because the next Christmas it was hats.
So,my sister is not a buy ahead person.
On the other hand, giving magazines is a great idea for her so for the last two years, I have sent her Readers Digest. It works well. She doesn't collect it, and it always has good reading in it.
So I am sitting her, with my list of people about to rack my brain for what to buy whom. But that is the fun part of Christmas, because I love to give a gift. Just like the one given the first Christmas.
Now, (picking up my pen) lets see.........what shall I get for.....
