So others may live

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WZq4gvouRig

Tomorrow is veterans Day. Some of us just think of it as a day off, but it is actually a day to honor Veteran. and we all know that.

Recently I met a lady who is having a lot of problems at home, sick kids, a harrassing neighbor, her mother is ill, she is having to stand on her own two feet, alone handling the crisis. On top of everything else Fort Hood shook her up until she was in tears, she didn't have anyone there but it reminded her that her love was in harms way.

How do you handle it alone?

I am a loner, handling things on my own is just somthing I do. I had a husband when I was raising my kids but he was the kind who went to work, came home and watched TV he wasn't at all involved and everything that happened was my responsibility to fix.

I was luck I had the personality to do that, I still hve a take change and gt it done mnner. I have to check myself.

When we thin of the military we think of the men and women over seas. But we forget, their families serve right along with them

i asked my friend how her husband felt about these things happening and she was quick to tell me he didn't know, he has to concertrate on his own job. If he is worried about hom, he might make a mistake that is fatal.

True.

So she is serving her own time, here waiting for his return.

God bless the enlisted men, and thier families because both are fighting for this country in different ways.

Sunday Ramblings..

Speaking of the Navy: Should you wish to send something to our troops:
Go Here and get a very reasonable list.

This is one of my favorite videos! I haven't quite figured out, well not even quite...I don't know how to put a you tube video on blogger! I know theres a way...someday I will learn. Anyway this is a fun video, and so I am sharing it today.

Its cold in Charleston, now mind you it has been in the 80's all week but today we had plans and....it is freezing. So we are going to bundle up, except for my foot I still can't get a shoe on, and bravely venture out into the Charleston cold to visit a petting Zoo and a pumpkin patch. What are Nanny's for?

I hope you are enjoying your Sunday, I can't quite get used to this having Church on Saturday Evenings...

Have a blessed day all

Americans and Apathy

oday is 9/11 and I actually do not have a lot to say. We have come so far since that day. But we have come the wrong way.

I remember how we came to gather. I remember how flags flew everywhere, it didn't matter who you were that day or the day after or the day after.
When did we forget and it become distant again?

We all want to live the American dream, and whats wrong with that? When did Americans NOT care about two cars a house and a boat. Or for that instance Roosevelt's proverbial; two chickens in every pot analogy....
When?

July 5, 1776
December 8 1941
September 12, 2001

We cared about America and Americans on these days, and we were ready to protect her.
We were angry at being attacked.. Remember how you cheered when our soldiers left? Well, heads up people they are still there. They are htere because the job is not done.
Why aren't you cheering now?

Rmember the Slogans?
These colors don't run.
Don't worry, we are on our way
Dome mess with Americans.

Where are they now?

My Photo
The media has a lot to say about the other side, but what about our guys?

When you look at your kids, or any kids do you want them to grow up in a post 9/11 world?
The one where we are so busy arguing about America we forget we are the Americans?

I am sorry folks, it wasn't a hoax. It happened. And if we are not careful it Will happen again. Not because there are Muslims in our country but because we are once again suffering from Apathy. We have exchanged awareness for prejudices. We ave looked for something or someone else to blame. We are worried about being politically correct that we are not watching what is happening.

We are forgetting the next attack could be on your kids. Your, mine ours. There wasn't a yours on 9/11 it was ours. Americas.

Wheres your flag? It flew in 2001 where is it today?

Apathy led us to Dec 7 and to 9/11 don't let apathy lead us on to something worse.

I believe wehave a president who is doing more to demorilize our country, then upliftit.
and you see these guys below this line? They are over there so I can state that.

God Bless America

Sunday Thank a Soldier for America, day

I have a niche for everything I think, but today being Sunday I think it is a day for God or God's people. I have a special place in my heart for Soldiers, and their families. I come from a long line of Navy men and women. My eyesight was to bad to get into the navy, but Ihad the dream of being hte first female pilot, I wanted to fly those planes off the carrier and soar into the blue. Carriers still fascinate me, I guess that is from my strange side. Come on all of us have strange sides.
You like horror movies remember? and what about all of you starbuckers who cnnot get up in the morning, or get through the day without a double mocha latte? oh, right. thats me. sigh....

The ACLU believes that soldiers shouldn't be allowed to pray a make any reference to God
Can you imagine not having God in Iraq?

Someone told me the other day, I should be careful my readers will get tired of hearing about soldiers and leave. I think, if you are tired of hearing of our soldiers then you should leave.
What the soldiers are doing, is what is giving you the right to read or stay on any blog not just mine. I'm not going to stop, I appreciate our guys and gals and I LOVE America...

American is a wonderful country, we are lucky to be here rather then some other countries.
We may not be perfect, but at least we have the right not to be, we can be whatever we want to be.

So have a wonderful Sunday, enjoy church, praise God for everything, and ask him to bless our guys and their families.

The Sack Lunches

The Sack Lunches

I put my carry-on in the luggage
compartment and sat down in my
assigned seat. It was going to be a
long flight. 'I'm glad I have a
good book to read. Perhaps I will get
a short nap,' I thought.

Just before take off, a line of
soldiers came down the aisle and
filled all the vacant seats, totally
surrounding me. I decided to
start a conversation.
'Where are you headed?'

I asked the soldier seated nearest to me.

'Petawawa. We'll be there for two
weeks for special training, and then
we're being deployed to Afghanistan.

After flying for about an hour, an
announcement was made that sack
lunches were available for five
dollars. It would be several hours
before we reached the east, and I
quickly decided a lunch would help
pass the time...

As I reached for my wallet, I overheard a

soldier ask his buddy if he planned to buy lunch.

No, that seems like a lot of money for

just a sack lunch.

Probably wouldn't be worth five bucks.

I'll wait till we get to base.'

His friend agreed.

I looked around at the other soldiers.

None were buying lunch. I
walked to the back of the plane and
handed the flight attendant a
fifty dollar bill.
'Take a lunch to all those soldiers.'

She grabbed my arms and squeezed
tightly. Her eyes wet with tears, she thanked me.

'My son was a soldier in Iraq ;

it's almost like you are doing it for him.'

Picking up ten sacks, she headed up
the aisle to where the soldiers
were seated. She stopped at my seat
and asked, 'Which do you like
best - beef or chicken?'

'Chicken,' I replied, wondering why
she asked. She turned and went to
the front of plane, returning a
minute later with a dinner plate from
first class. 'This is your thanks..'

After we finished eating, I went
again to the back of the plane,
heading for the rest room.
A man stopped me. 'I saw what you did.

I want to be part of it. Here, take this.'

He handed me twenty-five dollars.

Soon after I returned to my seat, I
saw the Flight Captain coming down
the aisle, looking at the aisle numbers

as he walked, I hoped he was not

looking for me, but noticed he was

looking at the numbers only on
my side of the plane. When he got to

my row he stopped, smiled,

held out his hand, and said,

I want to shake your hand.'

Quickly unfastening my seatbelt I
stood and took the Captain's hand.
With a booming voice he said, 'I was
a soldier and I was a military pilot.
Once, someone bought me a lunch.
It was an act of kindness I never forgot.'

I was embarrassedwhen applause

was heard from all of the passengers.

Later I walked to the front of the
plane so I could stretch my legs.
A man who was seated about six rows
in front of me reached out his
hand, wanting to shake mine. He left
another twenty-five dollars in my palm.

When we landed I gathered my
belongings and started to deplane.
Waiting just inside the airplane door
was a man who stopped me, put
something in my shirt pocket, turned,
and walked away without saying a
word. Another twenty-five dollars!

Upon entering the terminal, I saw the
soldiers gathering for their trip to the base.

I walked over to them and handed them

seventy-five dollars.

'It will take you some time to reach the base.

It will be about time for a sandwich.
God Bless You.'

Ten young men left that flight
feeling the love and respect of their
fellow travelers. As I walked briskly to my car,

I whispered a prayer for their safe return.
These soldiers were giving their all for our country.

I could only give them a couple of meals.
It seemed so little...

A veteran is someone who, at one
point in his life, wrote a blank check
made payable to 'The United States of
America ' for an amount of 'up to and including my life.'

That is Honor, and there are way too many
people in this country who no longer understand it.'

May God give you the strength andLove, peace

Life, goes on

This was the first sound I heard this morning, People are surprised that it doesn't bother me. It doesn't. I love to hear the sound of our guys arriving safely back, or just doing what they do. Tasha and I sit outside and watch the planes take off and land. It brings us closer the soldiers, in some ways. I always pray for them
We think about the soldiers when we see something about the news on TV, but I live so close to the base, I think and pray for them a lot.
It's hard not to when they are flying over your head. Day and night. smile.

I went walking with Denise this morning, sort of. I mean she was doing a walk-run and I was doing a walk, that got slower and slower. I was determined to make it though, but Denise got worried when I was writer then a sheet and seemed out of breath. I don't work out near as much as I should. I am going back to the Gym. the thing is in the gym I work out on machines, that strengthen my upper body, and such. But I need to do a little more weight training.

Any way, it started out bad enough. Denise showed up in her red running pants, and fancy workout shoes, lookiong like she just stepped out of fitness magazine. I had on jeans and a blouse. After making me go back and change, she was unhappy that I wasn't wearing warm up pant, but still in my jeans and a walmart shirt.
Well, she said loose, fitting. I have some furry warm up pants I brought from Sam's club last fall, for sleeping not running and no, i am not going to be seen in public in these.
We discussed this for about a minute, Denise shrugged and gave up, even Tasha was unhappy with me. But we survived, we started out and Denise left me in the dust before we were down the block This really doesn't look good, but I am going to keep plugging even if she is in the next city before i get to the end of the block, and she almost was.

Luckily she slowed down, I didn't pass out, and we walked about a mile. I am carrying a bucket for the perspiration dripping off me,( well, so ,not really) Denise is looking like she just stepped out of the shower.(really)
This whole scenario needs work.
Tomorrow when w do it again, she cheerfully tells me, I will be better.
Tomorrow when we do I again, I hope I can make it to the end of the block.

Life goes on...
